“Ladies Night Out 08″

Hello sa mga Binibini, Ginang at mga Ginangkupo.

I would like to thank everyone for coming to the Ladies Night Out 08.

It certainly felt like a storm that night. It’s kinda liberating to know that at our age and busy lives, we still could grove like teens. As Manang Joanne C put it, we had jet lag minus the flight. I was honored to have spent a night with you laughing, joking, sharing experiences (with a little bit of drama), dancing, and opening up of ourselves weaving the web of camaraderie with our new found friends and old girl friends — women to women albeit differences in ages, likes and dislikes etc. True, I facilitated but you did the most important job and that is to row the boat to destination fun. For all that and more, I thank all of you.

What a night it has been. I will definitely hold on to the memory of it for a lifetime. I will never forget each of your faces and the stories you told during the get-to-know-you-better time. Friendship is very rare to find. You just don’t pick it up from the ground. That night may have ended and we have parted, my hope is that may the seed of friendship grow in our hearts and may we nurture it with love and care.

I want to share with you the poem I have made not so long ago for my son Danny and his best friend Luis Lopez. May you be enlightened and inspired by it as I have.

WHAT FRIENDS ARE MADE OF…

Perhaps we would never know

when a friendship is formed.

At first there was a glance,

then the first touch of hands.

In every friendship

there is one defining moment.

But who can say

how a friendship is formed.

Is it just a mere stroke of luck

is it only for the blessed and the faithful

or shall we say it’s destined to be.

What friends are made of…this I’m sure

they’re made of hardships and toil

of sweet thoughts and caring gestures

of breaking up and mending

of needing and helping

Friendship defines

who we are. With them

we dare to be ourselves.

Inspires us to do better

and treasures our self worth.

Friendship is made up

of small things and great beginnings.

of sharing simple pleasures

and building big dreams together

out of great love and respect for each other.

In the same breath that I would like to thank the band “Mixed Emotions” — Bernard Quipot and Eric Sembrano and their beautiful wives for the awesome serenade. I bet every lady that night felt like a queen being serenaded by two fine singing gentlemen. The hotel staff even enjoyed and are inviting them to play at the Pearl Bar.

Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to each of our families who were with us in heart and minds even when we were out without them and for letting all of us have a night all to ourselves to enjoy. Because of them, life is wonderfully beautiful.

For those who missed out on all the fun that night, we hope to be with you next time.

went home and I took a nap until 5pm (para akong na-jet-lag). Until now

  4. Dear Lec lec,

I, again, want you to know how much I appreciated the time and work you put in to the ‘Ladies Night ,08′. Having had an experienced in organizing an Event less simple in the past made me more appreciative of what you have accomplished. I know you have a Family to care for, and yet you took the time for such an undertaking. Wow. I believe the PAMANA Org. is lucky to have you. I know the “Annual Ladies Night Out” will continue because of your dedication to fill-in the ‘generation gap’ .
Also, will you please thank your wonderful husband for sharing you with us? There are but a few of those man whom are so secure about themselves that they are more than willing to share the gift that they know they have. Your man is such a MAN. You are lucky to have each other!
I believe all those whom came can only marvel and be appreciative of what you put together. What dedication to your Filipino Sisters! I know I speak for all. Thank You!
It will do me honor for you to please share this attempt to show my gratitude for your hard work to the Pamana mailing group.
This was the first time my daughter and I had the opportunity as adults, two women, along with proud Filipino, kababayan etc., and all to spend time as adult woman to woman. She just moved back here from CA. These sharing of positive experiences will be with us for a lifetime. For this, I’m grateful!
We shared a formal moment, a fun moment, a wild moment, a sharing moment, what more can we ask for? The food was great. The ambiance was great. How thoughtful of you to bring to the program the two male kababayan. You took a great chance with them, since this is the ladies night out. I’m sure they enjoyed it as well as we did. They stayed the whole time so, they must have, I know their wives did. Everyone participated in our little “Act” Even the men. It is so nice to ‘let loose’ even just for a short time.
The dancing was so much fun. Who would ever guess, even at our ages we can still ‘grove’. Any way, THANK YOU!~!!!

  5. Ms. Lec,

Great job coordinating this event. I’m hoping the Gentlemen Night Out 08 (is there one?) will be as fun. Do you mind coordinating it, too? :)

    See you on Sunday,
    Bongbong

  6. Hi Lec:

We owe you a lot! I had a blast. That’s my first big blast since I moved to Wisconsin 5 months ago. Talagang parting pinoy.. mga party animals.

I thank you for your time in facilitating everything… it’s no joke to coordinate a task like that! You could be a professional event planner, ha-ha-ha— and I am not kidding!

Maybe hahabol na lang kami this Saturday. We will celebrate my “bunsoy” 11th bday at House on the Rock. Sa Dodgeville Park yong picnic di ba? Happy anniversary pala.

Salamat… salamat.. Salamat gid ka damo! Huzzah to you! Great job!

  7. Dear Lec,
First, my apologies for being late last Saturday because of work. I surely missed a lot esp. the getting to know you part and the dinner and the music by Mixed Emotions (most if it pala). But I came because I really wanted to connect with other Filipinas which does not happen often, considering my focus on ALL Asian communities for my magazine. This was so personal that I wished I had the time this year to do. I pray that next year would enable me to join the ladies completely.
    Anyway, I love your poem.

  8. Hi Lec,

First, thank you for inviting me it was such an enjoyable evening, and nice seeing you again. Meeting those beautiful new acquaintances, the two gentlemen serenaders ” awesome singers” and seeing some of our PAMANA friends. I was just telling my family I would have missed a very nice occasion if I did not come. Although circumstances would have not permitted me to go places like that night, it is worthwhile especially to ease up some of the facets in life we coudn’t avoid. So I say, it was perfect for me and maybe to others, also anticipate for more if time permits in the near future. Thank you very much Lec, you did a wonderful job we love you dearly for the effort.

For all the beautiful women I met that evening and for the older friends in PAMANA, thank you so much for the “chit-chats” we did, the camaraderie, I will never forget. That is one thing sure for us “pinoys and pinays”, once we see each other even just for the first time, we feel like we’ve known already for so long, those hugging, laughter and nice talks, the dancing was really enjoyable. It makes us “seniors” younger (ha, ha,) it is also somewhat like an exercise for all of us, we feel really good. So, thanks again, see you all next year.
    Love you all

    Bob’s remarks now.

Am glad Naty was able to go to Ladies Nite Out. She has been a much different person since then and being able to get her flowers and garden planted. Think it makes her feel like she is in the Phillippines again. Hope to see you soon, so far I am doing fine with a few side effects.
